miss world t&t donates books

April 29, 2016 - On Tuesday April 26, 2016 reigning Miss World T&T 2016 Daniella Walcott paid a visit to the Coffee Boys Anglican School, San Fernando. During one of the missions of its National Director as a Rotarian of the San Fernando Club, Mrs. Vanessa Sahatoo-Manoo learnt that this school was in need of updated books.

During their conversation, the Principal Ms. Joanne Ross-Newton, stated that classic story book tales, character building books and educational books would be welcomed to accommodate the minds of their students ranging from 5 years to 12 years.

Mrs. Sahatoo-Manoo pledged to grant the Principal’s wish and so she did, through the kind support of the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago’s organization dear friend and major sponsor – Nigel R. Khan Bookseller. Upon receiving the formal request, immediately she was contacted by Ms. Kerry Anne Bishop, CEO of NRK Bookseller, who granted their approval. Within a couple of week their Education Manager reviewed and selected 51 books.

Having spoken to Mrs. Sahatoo-Manoo she said she and her organization remains steadfast to their commitment to empower our younger generation and the best tool is through reading and understanding. She went further to say, during her visit to the school, she saw how dedicated the teachers were and that the students were very attentive and knew in her heart that she had to help them.

On behalf of all of us at MWTT we wish to sincerely thank the Principal of Coffee Boys Anglican School - Ms.  Joanne Ross-Newton, Mr. Curtis Williams - Senior Teacher, Ms. Rinelle Latchman – Librarian, the students and the rest of the staff of the school for welcoming us warmly and we wish them much success.
